Yes we have been missing in action! I could give all sorts of excuses. Most recently issues with our computer. But I am putting all excuses aside and recommiting myself to get on top of and stay on top of this blog! I feel like I have forgotten so much by not blogging about it. Looking back over the past couple of years on our blog there are things I would have otherwise forgotten. So... I am going to be posting past dated blog posts to get everything current. $2 Tuesday at the Dinosaur Museum

We caught two dollar Tuesday's at the dinosaur museum the first week kids were back in school. It was still a little crazy but the kids had a blast! Addi's favorite part was the puzzle play area. Wesley loved the light exibit and the sand digging at the end. Addi probably would have loved the sand as well but one sand covered kid was enough. Plus she eats Everything!!! Wesley asks me everyday we get on the freeway if we are going to the dinosaur museum. Next two dollar Tuesday we will be there for sure!

Utah County Fair

We stumbled across the fair while we were out running errands. It had poured earlier that morning and left the parking lot a muddy mess! We were able to see animals, tractors, and even rockets launch. A successful afternoon for an accident!

Addilyn's First Birthday

We had Addi's party at our place and invited just a few neighbors and our parents. I have been eyeing this huge cup cake pan for Addi's birthday for several months and finally bought it. While I was making her cake she came in the kitchem and saw the cupcake assembled but not frosted. She pointed at it and gave an excited sigh. I think that she was a little stunned that we gave her the entire cupcake. It took her a little while to get passed that frosting. Once she did it was on! My favorite part was when she rubbed her entire face in the cake.

Wesley's 3rd Birthday

We had quite the party for Wesley this year. Grandma and Gradpa Young bought a huge blow up water slide that we were able to use and it evolved from there. We held it over at our clubhouse and had a BBQ for lunch. We special ordered pepper jack brats from Kranky Franks for the adults and had regular hot dogs for the kids. The weather was sketchy the entire week but it held out for an awesome day. I made wesley a "Cars" cake because it is his favorite movie right now. Luke and I also got him a big boy bike. Afterwards a few cousins came over to our house and played "Just Dance" on the Wii. Wesley loved all of the attention and new toys. Thank you to all of those who came. Also, a big thanks to those who brought presents that didn't need to. It was a crazy busy day but Wesley had a fantasic time!

Fourth of July

Well actually the third of July! We celebrated with a party at the Swanson's with the Gunderson clan. My parents let us borrow the big slide for all of the kids and it was a big hit. There was some softball and volleyball but mostly talking and good company. We spent all day and ended the day with the Cul-de-sac of Fire and watching fireworks from teh stadium off the Swanson's back porch!

Swimming

We have been fortunate to be able to play in the water quite a bit so far this summer. It has included Grandma and Grandpa's big blow up water slide, Payson pool, Seven Peaks, and even the patio. My kids have always loved the water! Addi has no fear and thinks that she can swim. Instead she sinks like a brick! Wesley is getting better at swimming and will float on his back more than he used to.

Moab June 11-13

The Gunderson Family Reunion was located in Moab this year. The ride down was beautiful but got a little hairy when Wesley puked and Emily was in her first trimester. We stopped for a little bit to get him cleaned up and the car cleaned out. I don't think watching trains out the back window sat well with the little guy. We stayed at Slickrock campgroud in a cabin or tuff shed. The accomadations were much more than expected and when the storms rolled through we were glad for them. The weather was perfect even with the storms. The storms in the late afternoon cooled it of significantly leaving it very pleasant. Our kids loved being outside nonstop for a few days. Addi didn't mind crawling aroung in the rocks and dirt. She loved being able to explore and put things in her mouth. Wesley loved being able to go to the bathroom outside, even if it was in front of everyone. I forgot to take tennis shoes for everyone! I was able to find some in town the second day but a little too late for "real" any hikes. Sunday when we left we drove up through arches and walked around a little bit. We got rained on slightly which only added to the beauty surrounding us.

While in Arches we saw some awesome things including eyebrows, a bunch of German tourists, and Wesley's favorite TRASH BAG ROBOTS (see below).

We went to Pirate Island for one of Wesley's friends birthdays. It was a ton of fun! It was the first time that Wes has been to an arcade. He ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off pushing buttons. It didn't matter if we put token in, or if someone was already playing it, he would push the buttons.

Walks

When I got home from work today we took advantage of the weather once again and went for a walk as a family. We went for a walk down the "dead end street". All of our neighbors call it the "dead end street" and that is just what it is. A very long, I think .75 mile or so, dead end road. This is our typical route very few cars, a long way to go, and lots of animals. Our neighbors give our kids free entertainment with their cows, horses, chickens, goats, sheep, bunnies, etc. Yes, we do live in Payson and no we are not farmers nor will we ever be. But we are enjoying being able to teach our kids about animals hands on and get some exercise while doing it.

At First glance you may just think my child has a huge tongue. Maybe even a swollen tongue?

But maybe with a closer look you can see that it is a strawberry.

She normally just gnaws on everything until it disintegrates to nothingness. However, today she decided to really go for it! I DO NOT recommend this. It was a moment of pure desperation to keep her calm until we got home from the store. Good news learned how to stick an entire strawberry in her mouth and eat it successful without choking. Bad news she has learned how to stick an entire strawberry in her mouth.

Addi loves her brother's room! Her favorite is when he dumps out all of his toys. Can we say toy overload! Oh... Addi started to army crawl today. I'm grateful that she didn't start to crawl at six months like her brother. She has been rolling to get places for just over a month and she loves to be mobile.

Hogle Zoo

We took advantage of the free day at the zoo this month. It was Wesley and Addi's first time. Addi could have cared less of course and just stayed bundled up in the stroller the entire time. Wesley was so excited to see the animals even though he was feeling a little sick. It was great weather, for it being the winter, when we first arrived. However, when it was about time to go it started to dump snow. Luckily it didn't ruin the day and we were headed out anyway, but not without a good snow coating.

This Monkey was so funny and was playing peek-a-boo with Wesley. Needless to say Wesley got a kick out of it.

We got to see the brand new baby elephant. It was so cute!

Behind us is the baby Giraffe that soon after died. Sad I know but at least we got to see it.

Addi slept the majority of the time and I think she was the warmest and driest person there.

Addi's First Hair Cut

As much as I struggled with the idea of cutting her hair it has come to that point. The long wispy locks must be managed even if that means her hair will be shorter. Wesley had so much hair I just treasure the hair that is on her head waiting for the day I can do more with it. However, that day has to be postponed for the sake of looking decent. Plus if I didn't do it Luke would have and lets just say I trust myself a little more with my daughters hair. Overall it was an improvement and someday she will have a full head of hair for me to play with. Let the waiting continue!

I like to order my kids their clothes a full year ahead when possible. That way I can get awesome deals with the end of the seasons. This particular outfit was bought for these two little girls before they were even born! They were only due a day apart and ended up ten days apart. Beware of cuteness!!!

Just Chillin' With Dad

Our kids LOVE to be with their Dad! And that is an understatement. I think the fact that he is just one ginormous (yes it is a word we use) kid himself. They always want to be in his lap, on top of him, or crowding him out of bed. As much as he wants some personal space after a while. He still loves it buggers and all!!!

Hyperthyroid Update

It has been quite a while since I updated my status with Graves' Disease. By my third month of being pregnant with Addi my thyroid normalized. They followed me closely the entire pregnancy to make sure that Addi didn't develop some sort of thyroid complication as well. It was a relief each time I had labs or an ultrasound done and everything looked great.
Since I had Addi, I have continued to see my Endocrinologist and have labs done every six weeks. To my shock my labs have all remained normal. As of December 8, 2009 I am officially in remission. It is amazing that I can go from a thyroid storm to complete remission in a year and a half. There is no way to tell how long I will remain without complications. Anytime off that nasty medication is a blessing!
Graves' disease is a genetic disorder that may remain dormant your entire life. I will never know if that is the case for me but my doctor did say that mine was definitely exacerbated by the large doses of SSKI (potassium iodide) I was prescribed. I hope that all I needed was to get all of that crap out of my system and hopefully we have been successful at doing that. When I was originally diagnoised there was no way to tell how long it was going to take or if I would even be able to keep my thyroid. I hope that this post will come as comfort to someone out there struggling with similar complications.

This year we took 2nd place at Justin and April's Sweater Party. We decided to make our own designs this time around. We spent hours painting, bedazzling, and pimpin' out these beauties. We even rigged our sweaters with strands of Christmas lights (kinda hard to see in this photo).

Thank you to those who came to visit at the hospital and at home. A special thanks to all of those who brought us dinner. It helped out immensely.

For those of you wondering how Wesley coped with having a new baby around. He has always loved his sister. A little too much at times! There were times when I would be busy feeding her and he would hang on my legs to get my attention. But for the most part that was it, he is such a good big brother.

Duck, Duck, Goose!

Just a few minutes from our home is Spring Lake. We have found it to be the best place to go and feed the ducks! Hardly anyone goes there and there are plenty of ducks to keep you entertained. Wesley was a little scared at first but was soon chasing the BIG geese around and would always ask to go back. Anytime we went to the store and I put bread in the cart he would say "Ducks!". I had to explain that we don't give the ducks the "good" bread. Instead we give them the old bread and stale cereal (Which the ducks love and it lasts for a long time.).

Grandpa Gunderson and some of his boys took a herd of the grandkids on a hike to give their moms a break. They went to Genola to an old abandoned mine and the kids all had a blast.

We were able to have both of our entire families together for Addi's blessing. It was amazing to have everyone in one place. I think the last time that happened was when Luke and I got married. Addi is such a sweet spirited little girl and it is so much fun to have another girl in the house. She did amazing during her blessing and also at the "Fiesta" following.

Onion Days

Don't ask me why they call it Onion Days in Payson but they do! The first weekend in September they have the typical city festivities complete with parade and carnival. We took the kiddos to the carnival and let Wesley ride a few of the carnival rides. We did this last year to but that is when I stopped blogging and Wesley was scared of the rides. However, this year was a success! I took Wesley on the Shanghai Express and he was so cute trying to raise his hand like the big kids yet holding on for dear life.

Here's some pictures of our new little girl. She was born around 8:30 P.M. on the 17th. She weighed in at 8 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long. Both mother and baby are doing great!

Wesley love having a little sister! We just need to teach him how to be soft to babies. So far, he has been really good. He has already tried teaching her things(cutest thing ever).

Wesley Turned Two

Wesley had his second birthday at the end of July but with a wedding, finals, and a baby on the way we are a little behind posting. Our camera died on us, so, these our the only photos that we got. Not the greatest, but they will have to do.

We kept things simple and after cake and ice cream Wes went swimming with cousins and friends. Thank you to those of you who were able to make it.

Wesley loves tractors! As you can see that is what is on his cake and he was very excited to have them there. Wesley has become a little parrot lately and repeats anything you say.

His favorite things at two are:

Songs- The Wheels on the Bus, No One Likes a Frowny Face, If You are Happy and You Know it, Popcorn Popping, My Hands Upon my Head I Place, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, and I am sure I am missing a few more.

Addilyn Ann Gunderson

With the new baby just a few weeks away, we thought we should come to a consensus on the names and spellings. Seventeen Facebook comments later, we think we've got the right one.

We've always liked the name Addison, but won't use it because it ends in 'son'. Can't have both her first and last names ending in 'son'. So we pick the next closest thing... Addilyn.

We will be giving her the middle name Ann. She will be named after may aunt that passed away almost a year ago. I love my aunt Ann dearly! I got to spend a lot time with her because we worked together at Castle Rock. No one bumped heads more then Ann and I, but when the day was done we were always closer then the day before. I will miss her smile. I will miss her hustle. I will miss sitting in the break room with you eating half your lunch :)

Shelly had her first ultrasound at the perinatologist today. Needless to say we were a lil' shocked at what we saw.

We will be the third couple to have twins in our little complex. I swear there has to be something in the water. Couldn't really tell if they are boys, girls, or both. It's still too soon. We have anther appointment in six weeks. Stay tuned...

Potty Time!

Thanks to Wesley's friend Max, Wesley is interested in using the potty. He has been going "pee pee on the potty" for a few weeks now. However, he is still a long way from being potty trained. I have to ask him repeatedly if he needs to "pee pee on the potty". He loves to flush the toilet and "help" you with the toilet paper when you're going to the bathroom. Hopefully we can have him trained before the baby comes.

We only ended up knocking a few doors in our complex, but each door we got handfulls of candy. We we're the only ones who went trick or treating there. People were try to get rid of as much candy as they could.

Voters in California will be voting this November on the fate of same-sex marriage in the state of California. Of course this will have a huge impact on others state as well. Proponents of Proposition 8 are seeking to overturn the California Supreme Courts recent decision that allowed same-sex marriage. I would urge those who live in CA to join the “Yes on 8″ volunteer campaign.

Proposition 8: The California Marriage Protection Amendment Places into the California Constitution the same language that voters already passed by 61% of the vote in 2000. This is necessary to overturn an outrageous California Supreme Court decision that overturned Proposition 22.

“Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California.”

Hyperthyroid Update

As of last week my labs were within normal range on the lower dose of medication. Now I just need to gradually get the dose even lower until I am off of it completely. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Wesley now climbs on EVERYTHING!

I haven't been able to get a picute of him climbing the toilet. It is a little to scary just to leave him there to grab the camera. But he can climb on top of the tank to standing and be flat against the wall. When Luke is home maybe I can snap a picture.

Seven Peaks and the Ducky Derby 8/8/2008

Unfortunately, Luke was out of town but I was able to attend the Ducky Derby for the Boys and Girls club at Seven Peaks. Natasha, our boys, and I rode up together a little earlier than the derby started and enjoyed some sunshine before the storm rolled in. We let the boys play in the kiddie pools, wave pool, took them on one slide, and the lazy river and then the storm was upon us. So we waited and watched the ducks race in the rain and then left shortly after.

I took Wesley to the new Payson pool last Thursday with a couple of my sister-in-laws and their kids. We managed to have fun even though we had to get out on a couple occasions due to lightning.

We now have a big one year old! He weighs in at 23lbs 10oz and 30.5 inches tall. He not just walks, he runs and wants to discover everything. When I say "discover" I mean put it in his mouth! We had a little get together on his birthday over at our clubhouse. I made a train cake that turned out pretty well. Wesley enjoyed watching me make it, from his high chair, and he couldn't believe when I let him grab it. We practiced blowing out candles but when it came time he choked! We had to blow them out before he grabbed them. He then went straight for the car with the skittles. I made him his own box car to maul (while the adults picked at the big train). All he wanted was the oreo wheels and he was happy. I couldn't get him to just dig in, but hey less clean up for me.

The festivities included drawing on the table cloths, bubbles, swimming for some, playing with balloons, cupcakes and opening presents. But not in that order.

He enjoyed playing with the balloons and watching all of the other kids play around him. A fun time was had by all.

Wesley's current vocabulary:

mom, dad, uh oh (favorite), book (with no "k"), Ava (his cousin), wa (for water), ball, pop, bubble

Favorite things to do:

Be outside, climb, play in any water (from a small puddle to the toilet and beyond), cuddle, give hugs and kisses, and play with Dad.

Family Photos 8/2/08

Today we went up Hobble Creek Canyon for a family reunion. We were already dressed up because we went to our niece Lydia's baptism earlier. To make the most of the situation we had my little sister Jessica snap some quick pictures. I think the last one is our favorite because it shows Wesley's goofy personality. We realized how hard it can be to get a curious and very mobile one year old to cooperate for pictures. So, we commend you fellow parents who have done so and captured a good picture. For not planning on doing pictures I thought we coordinated pretty well. What do you think?

Hyperthyroid Update

I had a visit with my doctor the beginning of this month and things are looking good. I am no longer on the beta blocker and have very minimal symptoms if any. As for the thyroid medication I am down to four pills rather than six a day. We are still hoping that it will just resolve itself but we will see. I have more labs in about a week and again four weeks after that. I then see my doctor the following week. I will let you know what I find out. This post means that we are all caught up. Hopefully we don't get a month behind again!
